Protect your House from the Rain

Summer requires moms to open up windows and blinds, to put up bright colored curtains and to let the summer breeze in. Winter gives the need for heavy draperies, shutting doors and windows and lighting up they fireplace. Obviously, changes in weather compel an equivalent change in the home. What about the wet season? What does one need to do to rain proof the house?
Start with the necessary repairs. Admittedly, this may sometimes require one heavy dose of rain to be able to recognize the areas in the home that are in need of repairs. Check the roof for drips and rifts. Make sure your gutter and sewage or canal system is functional. This is to avoid the possibility of having flood water flow into your house.
Move your clothes line into the roofed and shaded areas. This means that the clothes may take a longer time to dry up and getting stuck there implies that you need to be more generous with the fabric conditioner. This also means that you have to do laundry more often so the clothes do not crowd on the shaded area.
Check your window latches. Heavy rain coupled with strong winds may bang and barge into windows that are not latched shut properly.
Make raincoats and umbrellas more accessible. Put them in areas near the exits of your home.
