There is something very attractive and yet very peaceful with flowing water. Especially if one hears it flowing or splashing softly in the background. This is one of the reasons why a lot of people want to install small fountains in their own homes.
Inspirations from such glorious fountains like the Trevi Fountain in Rome and various other fountains in Italy are very popular. Some gardens in homes have small fountains with the statuettes that resemble the famous Manneken-Pis of Brussles. A popular twist to this design is turning the Manneken –Pis into a small angel… still Pis-ing though. Another popular statue is that of an ancient Greek woman or nymph pouring water from an earthen jar. All of these are the more traditional versions of fountains, faithfully keeping with the established forms and designs of fountains, way back in the 16th century.
The more modern types of fountains have incorporated various colored lights that seem to dance and flow along with the water. Some fountains have big enough water pond beneath that they serve as a pond for decorative pet fishes like Koi. While there are other miniature fountains that are small enough to be placed in the living room.
Whatever form these ornamental structures take, the fascination they bring are almost always automatic.
