Child Proofing Your House

Jul

Baby Proofing is not a very simple task to accomplish. What you need to do is to survey an entire room, all that’s in it and to make sure that there is nothing there could potentially harm your baby. However, compared to Child Proofing your home, Baby Proofing seems like a walk in the park.

After your child ‘survives’ being a baby in your carefully baby-proofed room, it’s time to get your entire house ready for a curious, drooling, hyperactive yet still irresistibly adorable toddler. It’s time to child-proof your home.

Start with taking out any pointed, breakable, potentially poisonous objects from your toddler’s reach. This means having to clear most of the space about two feet from the floor. Take these objects to a more secure place (usually the more elevated places). Remove the sharp-edged furniture, your constantly moving kid could accidentally bump on these and end up getting hurt. For those that you cannot afford to remove, attach foam or any other material to remove the sharp edges.

Always keep your floor clean. Unless you want your kid to use his body to clean it up for you. Make sure that all the items within the crawling the area of your kid are clean. Remember that everything within your child’s reach is a toy/food.

Rainy Season Means Home-y Season

Apr

Some people associate the rain with some gloomy emotions like melancholy and loneliness. This happens because the onset of rain sometimes prompts one to bail out on fun outdoor activities and one feels compelled to stay at home and mope. But when one comes to think of the situation, judging the rain as a ‘party pooper’ is a hasty verdict. While it is true that the rain prompts one to stay indoors, this does not mean that a person ‘stuck’ to go nowhere has nothing good to do in his house. All that needs to be done is to garnish the house a bit to give it a more home-y feel.

Dust up and your favorite love chair or couch. It would be lovely to cuddle up for warmth with a warm cup of coffee or cocoa while reading your favorite book or listening to a record. Cuddling with a loved one tops everything though.

Clean your windows. It would be peaceful and relaxing to turn the lights down and just watch the rain from a pleasant vantage point.

Change your drapes and curtains. Go with the warmer colors and designs. Try not to put in heavy drapes as this will make the place dark instead of charmingly dim. Light up scented candles and incense of mint and other cool scents to set a more relaxing mood.

A Heavenly Bedroom

Sleep, like a perfectly grilled burger, freshly brewed espresso or chocolates is one among the most commonly accepted and easily acquired pleasures known to all man. But what most people do not know is that they can actually add another level of comfort and delight to this well-loved activity.

The secret lies in choosing the best equipment—the perfect bed and pillows that suit you. Those who have gone bed shopping know that it is extremely difficult to decide on which bed to go home with. Some are torn between 1.) firm (bordering on stiff) beds that are stable and safe specially for small children but give them very little comfort, and 2.) the overly soft beds that are comfortable to for lying down on but are a hassle if you need to move around and are even at the risk of smothering little children.

To resolve such issues, here is something to consider: Choose a firm (but not too hard) bed and make up for it by going with soft, fluffy and comfortable pillows and blankets. When it comes to the fabrics, go with pillows that are smooth and cool to the touch. For blankets, go with the downy and warm ones.
Always make sure your sheets are clean and fragrant to make your sleep more heavenly.
